Hangtompító

Hangtompító is a Hungarian term that translates to "silencer" or "suppressor" in English. It refers to a firearm accessory designed to reduce the noise produced by a gunshot. A hangtompító works by containing and slowing down the expanding gases that are released when a firearm is discharged. These gases are the primary source of the loud noise associated with a gunshot.

The internal design of a hangtompító typically consists of a series of baffles or chambers. When the bullet travels through the barrel and exits, it is followed by a rush of high-pressure, hot gas. As this gas enters the hangtompító, it expands into these chambers. The baffles create a tortuous path for the gas, causing it to cool and expand over a larger volume. This process significantly reduces the speed and pressure of the gases before they escape into the atmosphere, thereby lowering the audible sound of the gunshot.
