Habitica

Habitica is a gamified task management application that helps users build productive habits by turning tasks into role-playing game objectives. It is available as a web app and mobile apps for iOS and Android, with a free-to-use core that includes optional paid features. It originated as HabitRPG in 2013 and was later renamed Habitica.

Users create an avatar and log tasks in three categories: Habits, Dailies, and To-Dos. Completing tasks yields experience points (XP) and gold; leveling up improves the avatar. Maintaining health depends on daily task discipline; failing Dailies can decrease health. The app also uses a streak mechanic for habit consistency.

Users can join parties and guilds to coordinate, tackle cooperative dungeons, and earn rewards. Avatar customization includes pets, mounts, and cosmetic items, with quest lines and achievements to pursue.

Habitica runs in web browsers and on iOS and Android devices, with data synchronization across platforms and offline support for task editing. The project maintains an open-source codebase and public API, encouraging community contributions and integrations.

Core features are free to use, with optional in-app purchases such as gems that unlock avatar customization and other perks. Habitica has built a global community and a ecosystem of user-created add-ons and translations.
