HWS

HWS refers to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, a private liberal arts college located in Geneva, New York. It was founded in 1822 as Geneva Academy, later becoming Geneva Hall, and eventually merged with Hobart College in 1908. Hobart College was established in 1822 and named in honor of Bishop John Henry Hobart. William Smith College, a coordinate college for women, was founded in 1908. The two colleges share a campus and many resources, operating as a unified institution.

HWS offers a wide range of undergraduate programs in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary study, critical thinking, and experiential learning. Students have opportunities for research, internships, and study abroad programs.
