HLAtekijöiden

HLAtekijöiden is a Finnish term used in immunogenetics to refer to the various factors related to the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system that influence immune recognition and related biological processes. The word combines HLA and tekijöiden (the genitive plural of tekijä, meaning factor or agent).

The term covers the genetic and molecular determinants associated with HLA genes, including allelic diversity across HLA-A, -B, -C, -DR, -DQ, and -DP loci, haplotype structure, gene expression levels, and regulatory elements that modulate antigen presentation. HLAtekijöiden thus describe the range of factors that shape how the immune system detects peptides and distinguishes self from non-self.

Functionally, HLA molecules present peptide antigens to T cells, and variations among HLA alleles influence peptide binding and T cell responses.
