HISP

HISP stands for the Health Information Systems Programme. It is a non-profit organization focused on strengthening health information systems in developing countries. HISP was established in 1996 and has since worked in numerous countries across Africa and Asia. The core of HISP's work involves the development and implementation of open-source health management information systems, most notably the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2).

DHIS2 is a web-based platform used for collecting, managing, analyzing, and disseminating health data. It is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the specific needs of different health systems, from routine health service delivery to disease surveillance and outbreak management. HISP provides extensive training, technical support, and capacity building to government ministries of health and other partner organizations to ensure the sustainable use and ownership of these systems.

The objective of HISP and its flagship DHIS2 platform is to improve health decision-making by providing timely, accurate, and relevant health information. This, in turn, aims to enhance the planning, management, and delivery of health services, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for populations. HISP collaborates closely with national governments, international organizations, and research institutions to achieve its mission.
