HDACestäjien
HDACestäjien is a Finnish term referring to inhibitors of histone deacetylases. Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are a class of enzymes that play a crucial role in gene regulation by removing acetyl groups from histone proteins. Histones are proteins that package DNA into structural units called nucleosomes. The acetylation of histones generally leads to a more relaxed chromatin structure, which allows for easier access of transcription factors to the DNA and thus promotes gene expression. Conversely, deacetylation by HDACs compacts the chromatin, repressing gene transcription.
HDAC inhibitors are a type of drug that blocks the activity of HDAC enzymes. By inhibiting HDACs,
Beyond cancer, HDAC inhibitors are being investigated for their potential therapeutic applications in other conditions, such
