Gázelválasztás

Gázelválasztás, often translated as "gas separation" or "gas purification," refers to a set of industrial processes used to isolate or purify specific gases from a mixture of gases. These techniques are crucial in a wide range of industries, including petrochemicals, natural gas processing, air separation, and chemical manufacturing. The primary goal is to obtain one or more gases in a pure or enriched form, or to remove undesirable components that might hinder further processing or product quality.

Common gázelválasztás methods include cryogenic distillation, adsorption, and membrane separation. Cryogenic distillation is widely used for air separation, where air is liquefied at very low temperatures and then fractionated based on the different boiling points of its components, primarily nitrogen and oxygen. Adsorption processes utilize solid materials, known as adsorbents, that selectively bind to certain gas molecules. This is often employed for removing impurities like water vapor, carbon dioxide, or sulfur compounds from gas streams. Membrane separation involves passing a gas mixture through a semi-permeable membrane that allows certain gases to pass through more readily than others, thus achieving separation.
