Gázaiövezetet

Gázaiövezetet, also known as the Gaza Strip, is a Palestinian territory located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It shares borders with Israel to the north and east, and Egypt to the southwest. Gázaiövezetet is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Its territory is approximately 41 kilometers (25 miles) long and varying in width from 6 to 12 kilometers (4 to 7 miles), covering an area of about 365 square kilometers (141 square miles).

The region has a long and complex history, with periods of rule by various empires and powers. Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Gázaiövezetet came under Egyptian administration. In 1967, during the Six-Day War, it was occupied by Israel. A significant turning point was the Oslo Accords in the 1990s, which led to the establishment of the Palestinian Authority and some degree of self-governance. However, Israel maintained significant control over borders and airspace.

In 2007, following elections and subsequent internal political conflict, Hamas took control of Gázaiövezetet. This led to a blockade by Israel and Egypt, significantly impacting the movement of people and goods. The territory faces considerable economic and humanitarian challenges, including high unemployment and poverty. Access to essential services like water and electricity is often restricted. The political situation remains highly contentious, with ongoing conflict and international efforts aimed at finding a lasting resolution.
