Gyorsít

Gyorsít is a Hungarian verb meaning to accelerate or to speed up. It is formed from the adjective gyors (fast) with the causative suffix -ít, creating a transitive verb that takes a direct object, as in: A motor gyorsítja a járművet (The engine accelerates the vehicle). The reflexive or periphrastic form felgyorsít is common when referring to processes or systems that become faster, for example A folyamat felgyorsítja a gyártási időt (The process speeds up production time). Related nouns are gyorsítás (acceleration) and gyorsító (accelerator).

In physics, gyorsítás refers specifically to acceleration, the rate of change of velocity. It is defined as a = Δv/Δt and is measured in meters per second squared. In Hungarian technical usage, a device that increases particle speed is called gyorsító or részecske-gyorsító (particle accelerator).

In technology and computing, gyorsítás denotes speeding up computation or rendering. This includes hardveres gyorsítás (hardware acceleration), which uses specialized circuitry such as GPUs, and szoftveres gyorsítás (software acceleration) achieved through optimized algorithms. The term is also used in everyday language to describe making processes faster, for example gyorsítani egy folyamatot (to speed up a process).
