Gyoromorcsavarodás is a Hungarian term that translates literally to "stomach twist" and refers to a specific type of medical emergency. It is characterized by a twisting or torsion of the stomach and surrounding organs. This twisting can obstruct blood flow to the affected tissues, leading to rapid necrosis and potentially life-threatening complications if not treated promptly.

The condition is most commonly associated with the stomach itself, where a gastric volvulus can occur. However, the term can also be used more broadly to describe similar twisting events in other abdominal organs, such as the intestines (intestinal obstruction or volvulus) or even the spleen. Symptoms typically include sudden and severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and an inability to pass gas or stool. In severe cases, abdominal distension and signs of shock may be present.

Diagnosis usually involves a combination of physical examination, imaging techniques like X-rays, barium studies, or CT scans.
