Gruppechat is a digital chat space that includes multiple participants, enabling real-time text messaging, media sharing, and collective discussion among members. It contrasts with one-on-one chats by supporting a larger audience and varied message flows, depending on the platform. Gruppechat features are offered in many messaging apps and collaboration tools such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, and Slack-style channels.

Typical features include a participant list with roles (admin, member), invitation controls, a group name and description, mute options, search, media and file sharing, reactions, and retention settings. Administrators can add or remove members, approve join requests, and adjust privacy. Some platforms support message editing and deletion for all participants within certain time limits.

Security and privacy vary by platform. Some gruppechats are protected by end-to-end encryption for messages within the group; others rely on server-side encryption. Groups can pose privacy risks through invite links or the exposure of membership lists and messages. Administrators may have rights to monitor activity and delete content.
