Grena

Grena is a town and municipality in the northern region of Valoria, a fictional country. It lies along the Grena River and serves as a local hub for agriculture, light industry, and services. The town has a historic core and modern neighborhoods, with a population around 12,000.

Grena originated as a medieval settlement in the 10th century and gained town rights in 1342. It grew as a market town on river trade routes and expanded in the 19th century with the arrival of rail, later developing administrative functions for the surrounding area.

Geographically, Grena sits in a river valley bordered by low hills. The climate is temperate, with wet winters and warm summers. Surrounding farmland is used for grains, dairy, and fruit orchards.

Governance is by a mayor-council system. The municipal council handles local services, planning, and culture. The current mayor is Amina Sol.

The economy blends agriculture, light manufacturing, and logistics. Local firms operate in food processing, woodworking, and small-scale production. Transportation includes regional roads and a local bus network; a rail spur connects to a larger city about 25 km away.

Education and culture: Grena has two primary schools, one secondary school, and a public library. Cultural life centers on the Harvest Festival, a weekly farmers’ market, and a heritage society that preserves local archives.

Landmarks: The stone Gryphon Bridge spans the river, the Church of Saint Elara stands in the historic core, and the nearby Vale Woods reserve offers trails.
