Gravimeetrilised

Gravimeetrilised are a type of satellite-based meteorological system developed in Estonia, specifically designed for monitoring atmospheric conditions and meteorological events. The name "Gravimeetrilised" roughly translates to "gravimetric" in English, indicating the system's focus on measuring gravitational fields and their variations in the atmosphere.

Gravimeetrilised systems use a network of ground-based and satellite-based sensors to monitor changes in the gravitational field and correlate them with atmospheric conditions. This is achieved by measuring the variations in the Earth's gravitational field caused by shifting masses of air, such as high and low-pressure systems, fronts, and precipitation.

The primary objectives of the Gravimeetrilised system are to improve weather forecasting accuracy, particularly for daily and hourly forecasts, as well as to explore the potential of gravitational field measurements for detecting and monitoring natural hazards such as floods, landslides, and droughts.

The system consists of several ground-based stations and a satellite component, which collects data on the gravitational field variations and transmits them to the ground-based stations for processing and analysis. The processed data is then used to update weather forecasting models and assist in the prediction of weather-related events.

The Gravimeetrilised system has been developed in collaboration with international partners and has contributed significantly to the advancement of weather forecasting and meteorology. Its innovative approach to using gravitational field measurements for weather observation has opened new avenues for research and application in the field.
