Granitis

Granitis is a fictional coastal city and regional capital in the country of Noravia. It lies on the western shore of the Noravian peninsula, facing a sheltered bay and backed by low hills. The city covers about 75 square kilometers and has a humid subtropical climate with mild winters.

The site was settled in the 12th century as a fishing village. It grew slowly through the Middle Ages, with significant expansion after the harbor was fortified in the 16th century and trade routes opened. Industrialization in the 19th century transformed Granitis into a regional commercial hub.

Granitis maintains a diversified economy. The port handles regional freight and passenger traffic; logistics and ship repair form a stable base, while tourism is supported by the Old Quarter and waterfront promenades.

The city has about 120,000 residents. Granitian is the primary language, with minority communities speaking neighboring dialects. Notable landmarks include the Fort of Lyria and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Light. The annual Granitis Sea Festival draws visitors from across the region.

Granitis is served by Granitis International Airport and a coastal railway. A modern ring road connects the harbor with the city center.

The local government uses a council-manager system. Granitis University offers programs in engineering, business, and the arts.
