Grampositiivsed
Grampositiivsed is a term used in microbiology to describe bacteria that stain purple when subjected to the Gram staining procedure. This staining technique is a crucial method for classifying bacteria based on the composition of their cell walls. Gram-positive bacteria possess a cell wall that is primarily composed of a thick layer of peptidoglycan. This thick layer retains the crystal violet stain during the decolorization step of the Gram stain, resulting in the characteristic purple color. In contrast, Gram-negative bacteria have a much thinner peptidoglycan layer and an outer membrane, which allows the crystal violet stain to be washed away, and they subsequently stain pink or red with the counterstain.
The thick peptidoglycan layer of Gram-positive bacteria provides structural integrity and protection. While the Gram stain
