Gouldner
Gouldner, Albert O. (1920-2000) was an American sociologist known for his contributions to the study of social stratification and social mobility. Born in New York City, Gouldner earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1948. He began his academic career at the University of Chicago, where he taught from 1948 to 1954. In 1954, he moved to the University of California, Berkeley, where he remained until his retirement in 1988.
