Goris

Goris is a city in southern Armenia and the administrative center of the Goris community in Syunik Province. It is located in a mountainous region along the Vorotan River, roughly 230 kilometers south of Yerevan, at an elevation of about 1,000 meters.

The town is known for its historic core, where traditional Armenian stone houses rise along steep streets and courtyards. The architecture reflects centuries of settlement, with buildings dating from the medieval and early modern periods. The surrounding landscape features canyons, caves, and prominent rock formations that attract hikers and travelers.

Goris serves as a gateway for visitors to the Tatev Monastery and the Wings of Tatev cable car, which connect Halidzor to Tatev. The area is also noted for its scenic drives through the Zangezur Mountains and the Vorotan Gorge, making it a common starting point for regional sightseeing.
