Halidzor

Halidzor is a village in the Syunik Province of Armenia. It lies in the southern part of the country, in the Vorotan River valley, and serves as a gateway to the nearby Tatev Monastery, which sits on a cliff above the Vorotan Gorge. The village is primarily rural, with an economy rooted in agriculture and increasingly in tourism driven by the Tatev area.

A defining feature of Halidzor is its role as the starting point of the Wings of Tatev, a cable car system that connects Halidzor with Tatev Monastery. Opened in 2010, the ropeway provides access to the monastery and offers scenic views of the gorge, contributing to a rise in regional tourism.

The Tatev area around Halidzor is known for its medieval landmark, Tatev Monastery, and for various hiking routes and natural scenery in the Vorotan canyon. Visitors typically use Halidzor as a base for exploring the monastery, the ropeway, and surrounding cultural and natural attractions.
