Goodrington

Goodrington is a coastal suburb of Paignton in the Torbay unitary authority area of Devon, England. It lies on the eastern shore of Tor Bay, just east of Paignton town centre, and is part of the broader Paignton seafront.

Its main feature is Goodrington Sands, a long, gently shelving sandy beach backed by a promenade and dunes. The beach is popular with families and visitors in the summer and provides access to the South West Coast Path. To the north lies Saltern Cove, a rocky inlet noted for its marine life, rock pools and coves. The area also includes coastal parks and a range of seasonal amenities such as cafés, public toilets and lifeguard cover when required.

Historically, Goodrington developed as a seaside resort in the Victorian era, with improvements to housing, hotels and seafront facilities accompanying the growth of day trips and holidays by rail and coach. Through the 20th century it remained a popular destination for holidaymakers and day-trippers, with continued investment in the beach and promenade.

Transport and access are straightforward by road, and the area is adjacent to Paignton town centre. Local bus services connect Goodrington with Paignton, Torquay and surrounding areas. The nearest railway stations are Paignton and Torquay, offering services to Exeter, Plymouth and beyond.

Administratively, Goodrington is part of Paignton within Torbay Council. It falls within the Torbay parliamentary constituency for national elections.
