Glutationowych

Glutationowych is an adjectival form in Polish derived from glutationowy, meaning related to glutathione. It is used in scientific language to describe substances, processes or systems that involve or depend on glutathione. In practice, phrases such as związki glutationowe (glutathione-containing compounds), reakcje glutationowe (glutathione-dependent reactions) and szlaki glutationowe (glutathione pathways) illustrate how this form appears in biochemistry and pharmacology.

Glutathione itself is a tripeptide consisting of glutamate, cysteine and glycine. It functions as a major intracellular antioxidant, helping to neutralize reactive oxygen species and maintain cellular redox balance. In detoxification, glutathione donates its reducing power to conjugation reactions mediated by glutathione S-transferases, aiding the elimination of xenobiotics and heavy metals. The redox pair reduced glutathione (GSH) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG) reflects cellular oxidative status, and regeneration of GSH from GSSG is catalyzed by glutathione reductase using NADPH.
