Glasvik

Glasvik is a former municipality in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The municipality was established in 1930 and its administrative center was the town of Gravdal. As of 2020, the region transitioned to a land settlement area, with its former administrative center incorporated into the city of Bodø.

Prior to 2020, Glasvik was part of the Glutra formation project and was in a process of slow dissolution due to natural geological processes. The municipality spanned over 490 square kilometers and had a population of about 526 people as of 2017. Glasvik was a sparsely populated area with a high level of biodiversity due to its location in a mountainous coastal region.

The terrain in Glasvik varied from rugged mountains to coastal shoreline and included a mix of valleys, cliffs, and fjords. This diversity in landscape contributed to the area's rich natural habitats and wildlife population. Glasvik's proximity to the Arctic Circle allowed access to currently restricted exploration of field-based biological data in unique and unexamined regions.
