Getransduced

Getransduced is a term used to describe the state or action of a cell that has undergone transduction, the process by which genetic material is introduced into a cell via a transduction vector. In molecular biology, transduction can refer to DNA transfer mediated by bacteriophages in bacteria or to the delivery of genetic material into eukaryotic cells using viral or non-viral vectors. The terminology is more commonly expressed with the verb transduced, as in “the cells were transduced,” but getransduced may appear in informal or nonstandard contexts to emphasize the event of acquisition.

Mechanisms of transduction vary by system. In bacteria, transduction typically involves bacteriophages that package host DNA and transfer it to new recipient cells, enabling generalized or specialized DNA transfer. In eukaryotic and mammalian contexts, transduction usually refers to the delivery of genetic material by viral vectors such as lentiviruses, retroviruses, or adenoviruses, or by non-viral methods like lipid-based particles or electroporation. The goal is stable integration or expression of a transgene, depending on the vector design.

In formal writing, the standard form transduced is preferred over getransduced. getransduced may be encountered in informal notes, drafts, or attempts to describe the event from a recipient perspective, but it is not widely recognized as a canonical term in peer-reviewed literature.
