Geschlechtschromosoms
Geschlechtschromosomen, often abbreviated as sex chromosomes, are a pair of chromosomes that determine the biological sex of an organism. In humans and most other mammals, there are two types of sex chromosomes: X and Y. Typically, females possess two X chromosomes (XX), while males have one X and one Y chromosome (XY). The Y chromosome carries the SRY gene, which triggers the development of male reproductive organs. The X chromosome contains genes essential for both sexes, and its presence in two copies in females influences various developmental processes.
The inheritance of sex chromosomes follows a specific pattern. During reproduction, each parent contributes one sex
Variations in the number or structure of sex chromosomes can occur, leading to different intersex variations.
