Gergonne
Gergonne is a lunar impact crater located in the southern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon. It is named after the French mathematician and astronomer Joseph Diaz Gergonne, who was known for his contributions to projective geometry and his work on the theory of conic sections. The crater is approximately 80 kilometers in diameter and is located at the coordinates 24.5°S, 146.5°E. Gergonne is a relatively young crater, with a well-defined rim and a central peak. The inner walls of the crater are terraced, and the floor is relatively flat, with a few small craters scattered across it.
The crater's most notable feature is its system of rays, which extend outward for hundreds of kilometers.
