Geocell
Geocell is a three-dimensional geogrid manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) strips welded together at intersecting seams. These strips form a honeycomb-like structure when expanded. Geocells are typically filled with soil, sand, gravel, or concrete, which then interlocks within the cell walls. This confinement significantly increases the shear strength and stiffness of the infill material.
The primary function of geocells is to reinforce and stabilize soils. When filled, the geocell structure prevents
Applications for geocells are diverse and include road construction, railway tracks, airport runways, and slope stabilization.
