Gemälztes

Gemälztes is a German term that translates to "malted" in English. It refers to the process of malting, which is a crucial step in the production of beer, whiskey, and other fermented beverages. Malting involves steeping grains, typically barley, in water to encourage germination. This germination process activates enzymes within the grain that convert starches into sugars, which are essential for fermentation.

After a controlled period of germination, the grains are dried or "kilned." The temperature and duration of this kilning process significantly influence the color and flavor of the malt.
