Gelykstelling
Gelykstelling is a term used primarily in Afrikaans and the Dutch language to denote a state of balance or equilibrium. In physics it refers to a situation in which the sum of all forces acting on an object equals zero, allowing the object to remain at rest or move with constant velocity. The concept is fundamental in mechanics, where it is applied to analyze static and dynamic systems, such as structures, machines, and natural phenomena.
There are two principal forms of gelykstelling. Static gelykstelling occurs when all forces and moments acting
Mathematically, gelykstelling can be expressed by the equilibrium equations ∑F_x = 0, ∑F_y = 0, and ∑M = 0
The practical relevance of gelykstelling extends beyond engineering. In economics, the notion of balance of payments
