Garns

Garns is a small rural village in the North Province of Eldoria, a fictional sovereign state. It sits in a shallow valley along the River Alder, about 8 kilometers northeast of Brackenford, the regional market town. The parish covers roughly 2.0 square kilometers and had a population of about 320 residents in 2020. The local economy combines dairy farming, arable crops, and small crafts, with a modest tourism sector.

Garns appears to have been founded in the 12th century, when landholders established a hamlet around a watermill. The parish church of St. Mary dates to the 14th century, with later restorations. The village remained comparatively small through the Middle Ages and modern era, in part because a nearby railway line bypassed the area during the 19th century.

The surrounding landscape is gently rolling, with hedgerows and a nearby copse known as Alder Wood. Landmarks include Garns Church, a 14th-century nave, and Garns Mill, a restored watermill that now houses a small rural museum.

Garns is a civil parish within Brackenridge District. Local governance is provided by a seven-member parish council, which advises on planning, coordinates with district services, and represents village concerns to higher authorities.

Regional roads connect Garns to Brackenford and neighboring villages; a regular bus service links the village to larger towns. The nearest rail station is Brackenford, about ten kilometers away. The village hosts an annual Harvest Festival in late September, featuring farm produce and crafts.
