Ganuog

Ganuog is a rural commune located in Hunedoara County, Romania. It covers a total area of 34.12 square kilometers and has a population of around 410 residents, according to the 2011 census. The commune consists of three villages: Ganuogu Nou, Ganuogu Mic, and Ganuogu Mare.

Geographically, Ganuog is situated in the western part of Hunedoara County, near the Danube-Gorge Biosphere Reserve. The commune's landscape is characterized by rolling hills and forests, with the Jiegzio River flowing through it. The climate in the area is temperate, with cold winters and warm summers.

History of the commune is not well documented, but archaeological findings suggest that the area was inhabited by the Dacians and Romans in ancient times. After the Roman era, the region was populated by Slavic tribes, who later assimilated with the Romanian population. In the Middle Ages, Ganuogu was a small settlement, with a simple agricultural economy based on farming and livestock.

The economy of Ganuog is primarily based on agriculture, with locals growing crops such as wheat, corn, and sunflowers. Many residents also engage in small-scale livestock breeding, including cattle, pigs, and sheep.
