Ganggarn

Ganggarn is a coastal town and civil parish in Veridia, located on the southern shore of the Veridian Sea. It is the administrative seat of Ganggarn Municipality within Veridia Province. The town has a long harbor history and serves as a local commercial and cultural center.

The name Ganggarn is thought to derive from Old Veridian roots meaning harbor and gull, though precise origins are debated.

The town was first settled in the 9th century and developed around a harbor and fortress built to guard a ferry route. It became a market town in the 12th century, declined after piracy in the 17th century, and revived in the 19th century with steamship traffic.

The town sits on a small peninsula with a natural harbor and a mild maritime climate, with the Garne Forest to the north. Its economy centers on fishing, a small manufacturing plant, and growing tourism, including harbor-side restaurants and guesthouses.

Ganggarn is administered by a municipal council. Notable landmarks include Ganggarn Fortress, the old town walls, and the Market Arcade. An annual Ganggarn Day festival highlights local crafts, music, and seafood.

Population is around 8,500 at the latest census. Transportation links include regional rail and a coastal road, plus a regular ferry service to neighboring towns.
