Gammacaulimovirus

Gammacaulimovirus is a genus of viruses in the order Pisuvirales, family Caulimoviridae. The genus name is derived from "gamma," indicating its position within the Caulimoviridae family, and "caulimovirus," referring to the type species, cauliflower mosaic virus. Members of this genus infect plants, specifically dicotyledonous species.

Viruses in the genus Gammacaulimovirus are non-enveloped and have a double-stranded DNA genome. The genome is typically circular and encodes for several proteins, including movement proteins that facilitate cell-to-cell transmission within the plant host, as well as proteins involved in replication and virion structure. The Gammacaulimovirus particles are isometric or quasi-isometric in shape.

Replication of Gammacaulimovirus occurs in the nucleus and cytoplasm of infected plant cells.
