Gaasvolframi

Gaasvolframi, also known as tungsten gas or gaseous tungsten, refers to tungsten in its vaporized state. Tungsten is a chemical element with the symbol W and atomic number 74. It is a rare and dense metal, known for its extremely high melting point, which is the highest of all elemental metals. At standard atmospheric pressure, tungsten transitions directly from solid to gas at temperatures above approximately 5555 °C (9995 °F), a process called sublimation.

The study and application of gaasvolframi are primarily confined to highly specialized scientific and industrial environments. Due to the extreme temperatures required to achieve tungsten in a gaseous state, its formation typically occurs within controlled vacuum chambers or inert gas environments to prevent oxidation or reaction with atmospheric components. These conditions are often created using techniques like electron beam melting or arc vaporization.

While tungsten is commonly used in solid form for applications such as incandescent light bulb filaments and welding electrodes (where it is often alloyed), its gaseous state has limited direct widespread applications. Research into gaasvolframi may explore its properties for advanced material deposition techniques, such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD), where tungsten vapor can be used to coat surfaces, or in plasma physics research. The challenges associated with handling and containing a substance at such extreme temperatures make its practical use complex and energy-intensive.
