GNIstä

GNIstä is a fictional village and municipality in the country of Noravia, in the Central Highlands. It lies in the Lento District, about 520 meters above sea level along the Gniš River valley.

Name and etymology: The origin of GNIstä is uncertain. Some scholars link it to a local dialect word for nest, but there is no consensus.

Geography and climate: The landscape features mixed forests and meadows. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and mild summers.

Demographics: As of 2023, the municipality has about 1,150 residents, predominantly ethnic Noravians who speak Noravian.

History: The settlement is first mentioned in 1685 in regional records and gained municipal status in 1950.

Economy: Its economy centers on agriculture (apple orchards and berries), forestry, and small crafts. Local products include cheese and honey.

Culture and landmarks: Notable sites include the 19th-century Church of the Transfiguration and a historic river mill. The annual Gništijada festival celebrates harvest and crafts.

Administration and services: GNIstä is governed by a mayor and council. It belongs to Noravia's regional administration and has a primary school and a community center; residents travel to the district capital for specialized services.
