Généralisez is a French verb that translates to "generalize" in English. It describes the act of taking specific observations or instances and forming a broader, more general principle or conclusion. This process involves identifying common patterns or characteristics and then applying them to a larger group or situation.

In many contexts, generalizing is a fundamental aspect of learning and reasoning. For example, a child might see several different four-legged animals with fur and bark and then generalize that all such animals are dogs. While this initial generalization might be incorrect, it is a step towards understanding categories. In scientific inquiry, generalizing from experimental results allows researchers to propose theories that can explain phenomena beyond the specific conditions of their study.

However, generalizations can also be problematic if they are not based on sufficient evidence or if they lead to stereotypes.
