Förgasning
Förgasning is a thermochemical process that converts carbonaceous materials, such as coal, biomass, or waste, into a synthesis gas (syngas). Syngas is a combustible fuel gas consisting primarily of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H2), with smaller amounts of other gases like carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrogen (N2). The process typically occurs at high temperatures, usually between 700 and 1600 degrees Celsius, in an oxygen-deficient or steam-rich environment.
The basic principle involves partial oxidation or reaction with steam of the feedstock. Different types of
The resulting syngas is a versatile intermediate. It can be directly combusted to produce heat and electricity.
