Fázisteljesítmény

Fázisteljesítmény, often translated as phase power or apparent power, is a fundamental concept in alternating current (AC) electrical systems. It represents the total power delivered to a load, encompassing both the real power (useful work) and the reactive power (energy stored and returned by reactive components like inductors and capacitors). Fázisteljesítmény is measured in volt-amperes (VA) and is calculated by multiplying the RMS voltage across the load by the RMS current flowing through it. It is a crucial parameter for understanding the capacity of electrical equipment and ensuring that power systems are not overloaded. The relationship between fázisteljesítmény, real power (P), and reactive power (Q) is described by the power triangle, where fázisteljesítmény (S) is the hypotenuse. The power factor, which is the ratio of real power to fázisteljesítmény, indicates how efficiently the electrical power is being used. A power factor closer to unity signifies more efficient power utilization, with less wasted reactive power. Electrical engineers use fázisteljesítmény to design and operate power grids, transformers, and various electrical devices.
