Funktionsegenskap is a term used in mathematics to describe a characteristic or property of a function. It refers to a specific behavior, attribute, or condition that a function exhibits. Understanding function properties is crucial for analyzing, classifying, and applying functions in various mathematical contexts.

Some common function properties include linearity, continuity, differentiability, and monotonicity. A linear function, for instance, has a constant rate of change, meaning its graph is a straight line. A continuous function is one whose graph can be drawn without lifting the pen, implying there are no breaks or jumps. Differentiability indicates that a function has a well-defined derivative at every point, which relates to the smoothness of its graph and its instantaneous rate of change. Monotonicity describes whether a function is always increasing or always decreasing over a certain interval.

Other important function properties include periodicity, injectivity (one-to-one), surjectivity (onto), and bijectivity. A periodic function repeats its values at regular intervals.
