Frostridge

Frostridge is a town and municipality in the northern region of Northorn, situated along the Frost River at the western foothills of the Silver Mountains. The area experiences a subarctic climate with long, cold winters, brief summers, and frequent snowfall, shaping its architecture and daily life. The town sits at a high elevation, with a ridge to the east that forms a natural barrier and defines local travel routes.

Founded in the 12th century by settlers seeking protection behind the ridge, Frostridge grew around a river crossing and a stone bridge. The name derives from its frosty winters and the surrounding jagged ridge, which remain defining elements of local identity. Through the centuries it evolved from a trading post to a small administrative center for the surrounding countryside.

The local economy has historically relied on timber harvesting and quarrying from the surrounding hills. In the modern era, Frostridge adds tourism, small-scale manufacturing, and public services as important sectors, with seasonal visitors drawn to winter sports and scenic routes.

Notable sites include Frostwatch Keep, a medieval-style fortress, and Icewell Market, a town square that hosts markets and festivals. The town hosts the Winter Moon Festival each January, and environmental protections cover nearby Frostlow Forest and Spruce Ridge Reserve.
