Fronde
Fronde, or La Fronde, was a series of civil wars in France from 1648 to 1653 during the minority of Louis XIV, when several factions challenged royal authority and Mazarin’s governance. The name comes from the French fronde, meaning a slingshot, reflecting the rebellious mood of the era. The uprisings highlighted tensions between the crown and powerful groups, including the Parlement of Paris and high noble families, and they tested the regency of Anne of Austria and Mazarin.
