Frekvensforandring

Frekvensforandring, also known as frequency shifting, is a phenomenon where the frequency of a wave changes. This can occur in various contexts, including physics, acoustics, and telecommunications. One of the most well-known examples is the Doppler effect, which describes the change in frequency of a wave in relation to an observer who is moving relative to the wave source. For sound waves, this results in a higher pitch when the source is approaching and a lower pitch when it is receding. In light waves, the Doppler effect can cause a shift towards the red end of the spectrum (redshift) if the source is moving away, or towards the blue end (blueshift) if it is moving closer.

Frekvensforandring can also be intentionally induced for practical applications. In telecommunications, frequency modulation (FM) is a technique where the frequency of a carrier wave is varied in accordance with the message signal. This method is widely used in radio broadcasting and other communication systems. In signal processing, frequency shifting is employed in various algorithms to alter the spectral characteristics of a signal, often for noise reduction, signal analysis, or to prepare signals for transmission. The underlying principle for inducing frequency changes often involves the interaction of waves with a moving medium or observer, or through electronic manipulation of the wave's properties.
