Framåtfallsspänningen

Framåtfallsspänningen refers to the voltage drop that occurs across a semiconductor junction, such as a diode or a transistor, when it is forward-biased. This phenomenon is a fundamental characteristic of semiconductor devices and is crucial for understanding their behavior in electrical circuits.

When a voltage is applied across a p-n junction in such a way that the positive terminal is connected to the p-type material and the negative terminal to the n-type material, the junction is forward-biased. In this state, the applied voltage overcomes the internal potential barrier of the junction, allowing current to flow. However, a portion of this applied voltage is consumed in establishing and maintaining this current flow, resulting in a voltage drop across the device. This voltage drop is the framåtfallsspänningen.
