Fragilitykäyriä

Fragilitykäyriä, a Finnish term, translates to "fragility curves" in English and refers to probabilistic models used in engineering and risk assessment. These curves illustrate the relationship between the intensity of an event, such as an earthquake or flood, and the probability of damage or failure to a structure or system. Essentially, a fragility curve plots the damage state (ranging from minor to complete collapse) against the hazard intensity.

The shape of the curve indicates how susceptible a structure is to a given hazard. A steep curve suggests that a small increase in hazard intensity can lead to a significant increase in the probability of severe damage. Conversely, a flatter curve implies greater resilience.
