Fotoszenzitivitást

Fotoszenzitivitást, also known as photosensitivity or light sensitivity, refers to a heightened or abnormal reaction of the eyes to light. This can manifest as discomfort, pain, or an inability to tolerate normal levels of illumination. Individuals experiencing fotoszenzitivitást may find bright sunlight or even indoor lighting to be overwhelming.

The causes of fotoszenzitivitást are diverse and can include underlying medical conditions affecting the eyes, such as iritis, uveitis, keratitis, or corneal abrasions. Certain eye surgeries can also temporarily or permanently increase light sensitivity. Neurological conditions, migraines, and even some medications can contribute to this symptom.

Symptoms can range from mild annoyance to severe pain, often accompanied by squinting or a desire to close the eyes. Blurred vision and headaches can also be associated with fotoszenzitivitást. Diagnosis typically involves a comprehensive eye examination by an ophthalmologist or optometrist to identify the underlying cause.

Treatment strategies are dependent on the root cause. For eye infections or inflammation, antibiotic or anti-inflammatory eye drops may be prescribed. If medication is the culprit, discontinuing or adjusting the dosage under medical supervision might be necessary. Protective measures, such as wearing sunglasses with UV protection and brimmed hats, can offer relief in bright environments. In some cases, specialized tinted lenses may also be recommended.
