Fosfaattipinnoitteet
Fosfaattipinnoitteet, also known as phosphating, is a chemical conversion coating process used to provide corrosion resistance, improve paint adhesion, and facilitate lubrication. This process involves immersing a metal part, typically steel or aluminum, into an acidic solution containing phosphate salts. The acidic solution reacts with the metal surface, forming a thin, crystalline layer of insoluble metal phosphates. The type of phosphate used – zinc, iron, or manganese – dictates the properties of the resulting coating. Zinc phosphate coatings are commonly used for paint pretreatment and moderate corrosion resistance. Iron phosphate coatings offer good paint adhesion and are often used in less demanding applications. Manganese phosphate coatings are known for their excellent lubricity and wear resistance, making them ideal for engine components. The thickness and crystalline structure of the phosphate layer can be controlled by varying the process parameters, such as solution concentration, temperature, and immersion time. Following the phosphating step, the parts are typically rinsed and often treated with a post-treatment, such as a sealant or oil, to further enhance their protective properties.
