Forskningsspørsmål are fundamental to any research endeavor. They are specific, focused questions that a researcher aims to answer through systematic investigation. A well-formulated research question guides the entire research process, from the literature review and methodology to data collection and analysis. It defines the scope and boundaries of the study, ensuring that the research remains relevant and manageable.

The development of a research question typically begins with a broad area of interest, which is then narrowed down through exploration and reflection. It should be clear, concise, and unambiguous. A good research question is also researchable, meaning that it can be investigated using available resources and methods. Furthermore, it should be significant, contributing to existing knowledge, addressing a practical problem, or sparking further inquiry within a field.

Research questions can be qualitative or quantitative in nature. Qualitative questions often explore "how" or "why" phenomena occur, seeking to understand experiences, perspectives, or meanings. Quantitative questions, on the other hand, typically investigate relationships between variables, test hypotheses, or measure the prevalence of certain outcomes, often asking "what is the relationship" or "how much." The type of research question dictates the appropriate research design and methods. Ultimately, the answer to a research question is the primary outcome of the research study.
