FormFillSealSystemen, often abbreviated as FFS systems, are automated machines used in the packaging industry for the high-volume production of sealed pouches or containers from a single roll of flexible film. These systems perform four primary functions sequentially: forming the packaging material into the desired shape, filling it with the product, sealing it to create a closed package, and then cutting it from the web.

The process typically begins with a web of plastic film, which is drawn from a roll. The forming station then shapes the film into a tube or a pocket, often using a sealing jaw or a forming collar. Once formed, the filling station dispenses the product, which can range from liquids and powders to granules and solids, into the partially formed package. Following filling, the sealing station closes the package, usually by applying heat and pressure to create a hermetic seal. Finally, a cutting mechanism severs the completed package from the continuous web, and the cycle repeats.

FFS systems are widely employed across various sectors, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and personal care products. Their efficiency, speed, and ability to maintain product integrity make them a cost-effective solution for mass production.
