Forkynner

Forkynner is a Norwegian term for a person who proclaims religious messages and delivers sermons, most often within Christian contexts. The word derives from forkynne, meaning to proclaim or preach. A forkynner may be an ordained clergyman, such as a pastor or priest, but it can also refer to a layperson who preaches at worship services, mission meetings, or public events.

The primary function of a forkynner is to interpret scripture, teach doctrine, exhort moral living, and invite others to faith.
