Fordulatszámai

Fordulatszámai is a term used to describe the rotational speeds of mechanical components, expressed as revolutions per minute (rpm). It denotes how many complete revolutions the part completes in one minute. In Hungarian, the base noun is fordulatszám; fordulatszámai is the plural or inflected form used when referring to multiple such speeds across devices or contexts.

Measurement of fordulatszámai is normally performed with a tachometer, which can be analog or digital. Sensors such as optical encoders, magnetic pickups, or Hall-effect devices provide signals that are converted to rpm. The angular speed ω of a rotating part is related to rpm by ω = rpm × 2π/60, yielding radians per second.

Fordulatszámai are central in automotive engineering, industrial motors, turbines, and machinery. In engines, rpm determines available torque and power and is managed by the engine control unit and the transmission.
