Folikülün

Folikülün is the Turkish genitive or possessive form of folikül, the word for follicle. It denotes possession or relation and is used in phrases such as folikülün yapısı (the structure of the follicle) or folikülün lifleri (the follicles’ fibers).

Folikül (follicle) is a small sac or cavity in biology. The term is used for several organ structures. Hair follicle: a tunnel-like invagination of the epidermis that produces hair and contains the hair bulb, dermal papilla, sebaceous gland, and arrector pili muscle; hair growth occurs in cycles: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Ovarian follicle: a fluid-filled structure in the ovary containing an immature oocyte; follicles mature through primordial, primary, secondary and Graafian stages; one mature follicle typically releases an oocyte at ovulation and also secretes estrogens. Dental follicle: a sac surrounding a developing tooth, providing support and participating in eruption and the formation of the tooth’s supporting structures.

In Turkish medical and scientific texts, folikülün is used when discussing the morphology, function, or pathology of follicles. The term covers both hair-related and reproductive contexts, as well as related dental structures, reflecting the common biological meaning of folikül.
