Fogerty

Fogerty is an American musician best known as the frontman and primary songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) and for a long-running solo career. Born John Cameron Fogerty on May 28, 1945, in Berkeley, California, he grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and formed the early band the Golliwogs before the group evolved into CCR with his brother Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford. The band developed a distinctive blend of rock, country, and blues that became widely influential in the late 1960s.

CCR achieved major commercial and critical success with a string of hits such as Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son, Down on the Corner, and Have You Ever Seen the Rain. Their albums, including Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, and Cosmo’s Factory, helped define a swamp-soaked sound that bridged garage rock and roots music. The band dissolved in 1972 amid internal tensions, with Fogerty and the remaining members pursuing separate projects.

As a solo artist, Fogerty released the Blue Ridge Rangers in 1973, a covers album, and a self-titled album in 1975. His 1985 album Centerfield relaunched his career, yielding the hit single The Old Man Down the Road and a Grammy-winning performance. Fogerty and CCR were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. His work is noted for strong narrative lyrics, distinctive vocal delivery, and enduring influence on American rock.
